How did I find out about tennis?
My name is Tiago. When I was a kid I used to play sports and I started to watching tennis on the eurosport channel. Seeing so many games I started to understand the rules, the players, as well as the big events and tennis tournaments.
I remember perfectly watching games until late hours, as well as waking up in the middle of sleep to turn on the tv and watch tennis games on the other side of the world (us open).
I had the pleasure of watching Pete Sampras several times against Andre Agassi, as well as other great athletes.
I started playing tennis a few years later, after my grandmother, on a certain birthday, offered me a tennis racket. At that time I always played on clay courts in Peniche with my brother, who is left-handed.
In the early days I played only on vacation. At the age of 18 I started training twice a week on the weekends in a club called Clube Escola de Tenis de Sesimbra.
I stayed in the club for 3 years, in which I evolved my level of play, always in internal tournaments, in matches played on a fast floor, both day and night.
In the last years I have been evolving in a club in Lisbon called Laranjeiras Tenis, also in fast-paced courses that are better adapted to my offensive style, looking for the winner.
In order to balance my game more, I played in the CAD of the Povoa de Santa Iria (January-September 2013), in synthetics grass fields with a little soil, where the bounces are lower, which requires a correct flexion of the legs to perform in the best conditions.
This year I have played tournaments ladders in the Lisbon area, where I met many players with different game styles and ages.
I usually use Wilson rackets, Wilson balls for fast pace floors, and on slower pace floors I use Tecnifibre balls.
The best players with whom I played tennis in addition to the coaches were two youths from cascais, who played in federated tournaments, one in carcavelos (no 32 national) and another in Portela (no 29 national), in the year 2011.
Currently playing in the ladder tournament of the São João Tennis Club, where there are some players with a good level, which makes the challenges more interesting.
